There’s something about June — At Flamingos Coffee House, we’re channelling all of that into a full lineup of events designed to bring people together through art, laughter, and connection.
Whether you want to discover a new craft, dive into the world of poetry, take to the mic, or just be in a space where you feel seen and safe, June’s calendar is for you. From Dungeons & Dragons to storytelling slams, every event reflects our mission: build community, centre queer voices, and keep it joyful.

Let’s Roll! Dungeons & Dragons Taster Session
Hosted by Dragons Nest
Curious about DnD? This gentle, no-pressure intro session is a perfect starting point for new adventurers. Learn the basics of character creation, storytelling, and gameplay from the brilliant folks at Dragons Nest. Come solo or with friends — no experience needed, just imagination and a willingness to play. Dice and materials provided!

Out Loud: LGBTQ+ Poetry and Identity Workshop
Hosted by the Queer Poetry Project
This powerful creative writing workshop explores the history and voices of queer poets through time, offering you the chance to write and share your own work in a welcoming, supportive setting. All materials are provided, and all writing levels — from first-timers to seasoned scribblers — are welcome.

Grab a drink, pull up a chair, and get ready to laugh. This comedy night showcases queer voices and hilarious talent from across Leeds and beyond. Whether it’s satire, storytelling, or stand-up with bite, you’re in for an uplifting evening with friends and chosen family. Expect belly laughs and big heart.

Music, poetry, storytelling — if you’ve got something to say or play, we want to hear it. Our Open Mic Night is a relaxed, friendly stage for first-timers and regular performers alike. No need to book in advance — just turn up, sign up, and share your voice. Hosted by the fantastic Men’s Health Unlocked team.

Jesmonite Casting Workshop
With (Tyro) Studios
Ready to get hands-on and try something new? Jesmonite is a sustainable, stone-like casting material perfect for coasters, plant pots, and more. This beginner-friendly session will teach you the basics of colour mixing, moulding, and finishing. You’ll leave with your own handmade piece — and a new skill!

Smut Slam is back! This storytelling night for grown-ups invites you to hear (and maybe share) true stories of desire, embarrassment, hilarity, and real human intimacy. This month’s theme is “FIRSTS” — think first kisses, first crushes, first disasters.
Hosted by the legendary Slut Slam crew, it’s part open mic, part confessional, and 100% unforgettable.
