Hi everyone,
I’m thrilled to announce that I am now the new owner of Flamingos Coffee House. Flamingos has always been more than just a place to grab a coffee—it’s a space where people can connect, feel welcomed, and truly belong. It’s an honour to take the reins of a space with such a strong history of inclusivity and creativity, and I can’t wait to embark on this journey with you all.
I’d like to thank Neil for being so welcoming to myself, but I know he wouldn’t have been able to make this decision if he didn’t feel Flamingos was in good hands.
A Safe Space for All
First and foremost, I want to reassure everyone that Flamingos Coffee House will continue to be the safe, inclusive space it has always been. Whether you’ve been a regular customer for years or are just discovering us for the first time, you are welcome here. We remain a proudly queer led business and our commitment to the LGBTQ+ community, and to creating a space that celebrates individuality, remains at the heart of what we do.
Flamingos has always been more than coffee – It’s a place where friendships are made, ideas are shared, and community thrives. I want Flamingos to be somewhere you feel at home—whether you’re popping in for your morning coffee, spending time with friends, or attending one of our new unique events.
What’s Next for Flamingos?
While Flamingos will continue to honour its roots, I’m excited to bring some fresh ideas to the table. Here’s what you can expect in the coming months:
- A Refreshed Identity: We’re giving Flamingos a subtle refresh to modernise its look while keeping the flamingo theme that everyone loves.
- Expanded Hours: Over the coming weeks we’ll be opening earlier for breakfast, and staying open as the sun sets.
- Brand New Menu: We’ve got a fantastic new breakfast menu, and while we’ve kept your old favourite you’ll love our new additions with your coffee. We’ve made sure that we’ve got great Plant-based and Gluten-free options.
- Flamingos After Dark: Later this month we’ll be launching Flamingos After Dark – a year long events program featuring drag shows, storytelling nights, and themed evenings.
- Flamingo Fund: A community-driven initiative, allowing local LGBT groups to apply for funding to support their work.
Community at the Core
I’m passionate about keeping Flamingos as a hub for connection and creativity. From local artists and performers to meet-ups and community groups, Flamingos will continue to support and collaborate with the people who make Leeds such an incredible city. If you’ve got an idea for an event, get in touch!
What You Can Do
This is your Flamingos Coffee House, and I want you to be a part of this new chapter!
- Pop in for a coffee: Try our new Flamingos Blend or enjoy a delicious breakfast.
- Tell us what you think: We really hope you love the new Flamingos, but if we’ve tweaked something you loved, let us know!
- Share your ideas: Have suggestions for new events? Let me know!
- Spread the word: Tell your friends about Flamingos and help us grow our community.
Thank You
To everyone who has supported Flamingos Coffee House over the years, thank you. I’m honoured to build on the incredible legacy of this café, and I’m so excited to welcome you to this next chapter.
Whether you’re here for your morning flat white, an inspiring event, or simply a safe space to be yourself, Flamingos is here for you.
See you soon,
Thomas
