STANDing with Flamboyance: Celebrating Queer and Disabled Artists at Flamingos Coffee House

Flamingos Coffee House hosts STANDing with Flamboyance: Queer and disabled artists' exhibit in Leeds.

At Flamingos Coffee House, we’ve always been about more than just coffee. We believe in fostering an inclusive and vibrant community space—one where everyone feels welcome, celebrated, and heard. That’s why we’re beyond excited to announce our latest collaboration with Pyramid, a pioneering arts organisation that supports artists with learning disabilities.

Together, we’re proud to present “STAND”ing with Flamboyance, an exhibition that shines a light on the incredible talents of local queer and/or disabled identifying artists.

What’s the Exhibition About?

“STAND”ing with Flamboyance is more than just an art display—it’s a bold statement of visibility, pride, and creative brilliance. The show brings together a diverse group of artists who express their identities, experiences, and perspectives through a variety of artistic mediums.

Expect to see:
🎨 Striking visual art from local LGBTQ+ and disabled artists
🌈 Themes of self-expression, identity, and community
💡 Powerful storytelling through creativity

The exhibition will be hosted at Flamingos Coffee House, located in the heart of Leeds City Centre at 10 Central Arcade (LS1 6DX), making it easily accessible to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in this inspiring showcase.

Why This Matters

Representation matters. Spaces like this create opportunities for underrepresented artists to share their work, connect with the community, and challenge perceptions. Art is a powerful vehicle for change, and “STAND”ing with Flamboyance embodies that spirit.

By bringing this exhibition to Flamingos Coffee House, we’re reinforcing our commitment to supporting the LGBTQ+ and disabled communities in Leeds and beyond. We want to ensure that creativity and expression know no barriers—and that every artist has a platform to be seen and celebrated.

When Can You Visit?

The exhibition opens in March 2025, so mark your calendars and get ready to experience an explosion of creativity!

Who’s Behind It?

The exhibition has been curated by Pyramid artists Heather and Leigh, in collaboration with Flamingos Coffee House. Pyramid has been instrumental in providing a platform for artists with learning disabilities, ensuring that their voices are heard and valued in the art world.
